Ryan leaf, ex NFL QB, wanted in Texas

Some consider Ryan Leaf as possibly the most controversial quarterback in the history of the NFL, throwing a pass to the behind of his own center. Now, Ryan Leaf is wanted in the state of Texas for failing to turn himself in on drug and burglary charges. At the time he was indicted for arrest, Leaf for in drug rehab in British Columbia, and efforts have been made to make Leaf return the U.S on his own, but he has failed to do so. If he is found, Leaf will be arrested and charged with Burglary and Drugs.

Girls Lacrosse Game Cancelled

The CECAA girls lacrosse game was cancelled for Wednesday evening, thus ending the season for the high school girls. The players, mostly attending RHAM high school, finished their season with a record of 3-3. They show great promise for the next spring season.

RHAM Graduate Headed for MLB

RHAM High School graduate A.J. Pollock was named the 17th pick in the Major League Baseball draft on Tuesday, headed to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Pollock has been heavily scouted by the team all spring while playing baseball at the University of Notre Dame. Pollock is the first state player selected in the first round since Norwalk's Pete Tucci went to the Blue Jays with the 31st pick in 1996. He played shortstop for the RHAM High School Varsity Baseball team in 2006, finishing with a batting average of .465 and named the Gatorade State Player of the Year. At age 21, A.J. Pollock is the highest ranking Connecticut draft pick since Fairfield's Charles Nagy was drafted out of UConn by the Indians with the 17th pick in 1988. Pollock played center field for Notre Dame and the Cape Cod Baseball League hitting .365 with 10 home runs, and 52 RBI's.

Super Bowl Rings Biggest In History

This morning, the Pittsburgh Steelers received their new Super Bowl rings, and they are huge. Huge doesn't even begin to explain it. Weighing in at 3.7 ounces, these rings contain 63 diamonds, which equals 3.61 carats. On the face of the ring, you can see six diamonds, one for each Superbowl the Steelers have won. Seven smaller diamonds at the top of the ring represents the seven conference championships they have won, and the seven more at the bottom represent the 14 division titles won by the Steelers. On one side of the ring, the score of the game is engraved, along with 6 Lombardi trophies inside of Heinz field, and of course the Superbowl XLIII (43) logo. On the other side, the players name is engraved with his number, and the Steelers logo.

Interesting Find For Police in Bridgeport

A police narcotics unit raided a home in Bridgeport today and were very surprised with what they found. Not only did the narcotics unit find about two ounces of marijuana, but they found two guns and what looked like a human skull. The police arrested five men from the home.

The skull was on top of what looked like a goat or sheep head, and below an alligator head. Also, the police found a very abstract hand writing.

According to Courant.com, "They suspect people were practicing Santeria, a Caribbean blend of West African beliefs and Catholicism that uses animal sacrifices in some rituals."

The medical examiners office will try to determine if the skull was human, and if so, the identity of the skull.

RHAM Student Wins Film Award

David Coffey, a sophomore at RHAM High School, won "Best Comedy Video" at last Friday's Glastonbury Regional Film Festival for his short film "The Door."

This was the second year of the film festival (called GRYFF) and the first year RHAM students entered films. The film festival features work by area high school students and its organizers hope to hold it again next year.

Picasso Sketchbook Stolen

On Monday June 8th, one of Pablo Picasso's sketchbooks worth several million euros (9 to 13 million dollars), was stolen from the Picasso museum in Central Paris. The theft occured overnight, however, there was no sign of a break-in and no trace of the suspect. The museum was not yet ready to comment on the robbery.

Month Long Celebration in Norwich

For one month the town will celebrate Norwich's 350Th anniversary. The festivities are set to start on Saturday, June 6 at 10am at Mohegan Tribe's burial grounds. There they will re-enact the deed-signing between the tribe members and the city.

Along with the anniversary is the Riverfest celebration at Harbor Park. In the Harbor on Saturday there will be music, food, boat races, and more. "We have bands coming in and playing throughout the afternoon, Miss Connecticut will make an appearance, an entire Children's Village arts and crafts, a preview of our fall auto show," he [Brian Kobylarz] said. "There's plenty for everybody to do, all free and open to the public."

The celebration has been planned for over a year. Along with the re-enactment on June 6, there will be cemetery tours on June 13, Harbor day June 26, and a parade on July 5.

Tyler Lorenzen Trys To Impress Jaguars

Tyler Lorenzen, 23, the two year starting quarter back for Uconn, is trying to further his football career. According to Courant.com, "He dropped back to throw passes. He lined up as a receiver to catch them. He went on the other side of the ball to try to pick them off as a defensive back."

Lorezen, who started his college football as a wide receiver for Iowa State, transferred to Palomar Community College in San Marcos, Calif. to play quarterback, which got him to UConn. Now, Lorenzen is trying to play as a tight end.

One advantage of transitioning from quarterback to tight end is that he is very smart and has a mind for the game. Mike Tice, an assistant coach for the Jaguars, had good things to say about Lorenzen. "We were working on a new formation and someone was misaligned and you can see Tyler directing him to the right spot."

Another thing Lorenzen has going for him is that he is a very fearless, physical player, not afraid to take a hit. The Jaguars know that Lorenzen has a great attitude, putting his all towards whatever he needs to achieve.

"He just needs more time on the job and gain additional leg strength for when we get in pads," Tice said. "He will get that done in the weight room."

"Kung Fu" star found dead in Bangkok

72 year old David Carradine, star of "Kill Bill", and the series "Kung Fu", was found dead Thursday in Thailand. Police say the man hanged himself in his hotel room. One officer told reporters that Carradine was staying at a luxury hotel called Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. According to his manager, Chuck Binder, Carradine was in Bangkok shooting a new film called "Stretch". Carradines body was taken to a hospital for an autopsy on Friday.

Last Australian World War One survivor dies

The Last remaining Australian soldier, John "Jack" Ross, to have served in World War One died on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009. He had recently turned 110 in March of 2009, and died early Wednesday morning in a nursing home in the state of Victoria. Ross was 18 when he enlisted in the Australian military.

Pops Concert - Band

Last night, RHAM High School hosted its annual Pops Concert which essentially is an enjoyable, well produced concert. Usually, the band and chorus combine to make one large concert with interesting pieces. However, due to the fact that it would be far too long for the audience, the event was split into two days. The band performed last night to a fairly full sized audience. Pieces from the symphonic band incuded a gladiator themed style, a Tarzan selection which included highlights from the drum section and a "Midway March". The Wind Ensemble also performed in the show performing "The Cowboys" which had students wearing western gear of their choice and cowboy type hats. "Concertino" was a section which highlighted the clarinets and included band director, Mr. Ketterer's daughter Sarah, as the soloist. Finally, the band finished the piece with the ever so popular "The Lion King" which brought the audience through all the phases of the movie. Jazz band, one of the three bands to perform "wow"ed the crowd by playing a piece called, "Manteca" which included the following soloists: Michaela Connelly and Keenan Asbridge on trumpet and Sam Young and Nick Aubin on saxophone. A song called "The Chicken" was performed and Michaela and Keenan both as well held solos in this piece. "Blue Rondo a La Turk" was an interesting piece selected by the director which only had one soloist, Nick Aubin. "Limehouse Blues" was a creative bluesy piece that included once again, Michaela, Nick, Keenan and Keenan's younger brother, Ryan on Saxophone. It was an enjoyable show and many gladly attended. Tonight, the chorus will perform in the hopes of drawing in the crowd once again.

Jibbs Music Review

Hit singer Jibbs has came out with a new single. You may recognize him as the singer of hits like Chain Hang Low and King Kong. He has a new CD called New Tempo,New Swag that's scheduled to come out for August 2009. Jibbs explains the tone of the CD as a banging high school anthem. Jibbs himself never got to experience high school because he was signed at the age of 14, so he only made it to 8th grade. So to make this new CD he went out and saw movies all about proms, graduations, and the high school experience.



The new single is called The Dedication(Ay DJ) and features Lloyd. The song is a slower dance song that is about asking a DJ to play this song for a certain girl. The lyrics are very catchy, like the chorus-"My Shawty Is On Her Way Home From Work Soon And I'm a Do It Like We Did It In High School And Send My Dedication On My Favorite Station". The song is definitely made to be enjoyed by high school students. It has a good beat and the singer,Jibbs, has a very talented voice. If you're looking for an slower dance song or a R&B song about love I would recommend this song. I would rate this song a 4 out of 5 (0 being the worst-5 being the best).
