Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, was found guilty of second-degree murder, for running over his daughter with a car in a parking garage in Arizona. He was also charged with aggravated assault, and two counts of fleeing the accident. This was because he also struck and injured his daughter's boyfriend's mother, and fled to Mexico after the incident. This was in October 2009, and he was officially found guilty as charged, this week.
His motive for doing this is believed to be his belief that his daughter was becoming "too Westernized." Indeed, his daughter had decided to attend college, and refused an arranged marraige. Despite this, Almaleki repeatedly insisted that her death was an accident, and although he meant to scare her, he did not want to kill her.
