Nine Days To 10-Digit Dialing

According to courant.com, on November 14, all calls in Connecticut will have to include an area code. Cellphones will have to include an area code too, it will not be an exception. Outside the local calling area will require a 1 before the area code and local calls won't need the 1. The move will be part of the state's change to 2 new area codes. On December 12th, new numbers in the old 203 area code area would be changed to a 475 area code. Sometime in 2010, new numbers in the 860 area code area would become a 959 area code. No customers will have to change their current area codes in "overlay" of the new area codes. For more information about 10-digital dialing and the new area codes, click on the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control's "Get ready to change the way you dial in Connecticut" link.
