Atlantis Prepares for Final Voyage

NASA's final space shuttle mission that is scheduled to launch on July 8th. The space shuttle Atlantis will be NASA's final shuttle launch. At 8:42 PM on Tuesday May 31, Atlantis began its 3.4 mile crawl to launch pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center for the last time. NASA will retire the space shuttle program after this launch of STS-135. The space shuttle program has been flying since 1981 and this final mission will be 135th space shuttle mission for NASA and will mark the end of an era. NASA will announce the offical launch date shortly after the June 28th Flight Readniess Review.
