86 year old Jorge Villanueva had a serious infection on his right foot. Doctors in Lima, Peru found it necessary to perform a emergency amputation in order to prevent the infection from spreading. Unfortunately, the doctors mistakenly removed his left foot only to realize the awful mistake they had made. The following day a second surgery was scheduled that left Villanueva without any feet. Health Minister Oscar Ugarte asked for an investigation and the doctors involved in this incident have been suspended until the investigation is over. The Villanueva family intends to sue, according to Carmen Villanueva, the daughter of Jorge Villanueva.
