Students, staff, and buses struggled into RHAM High School this morning through severe road flooding and ponding. Route 87 in Columbia, a road on the side of a hill, was inundated by water flowing down the hillside and crossing the road. The water was deep enough and fast enough to push this reporter's 1-ton diesel pickup slightly to the right as I drove through. Other RHAM staff members have reported similar flooding on Route 85 in Colchester.
Meanwhile, local volunteer fire departments are responding to service calls for help with flooded basements in the Andover, Hebron, Marlborough area.
