On Sunday, Branford held the first annual Bruce's Ride in which hundreds bicycled in memory of a lost friend and to raise money for cancer patients. The ride featured courses of all levels for all cyclist including a 10, 25, and 55 mile courses. Kids were welcome, too, with live entertainment.
The ride was held at Owenego Beach and Tennis Club to remember a Branford man who died last year from lung cancer, Bruce Pantani. "Family and friends describe Pantani as a beloved family man and member of the community". All the proceeds will be donated to cancer patients at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven. The ride was expected to be a success and continue for many years.
