Man Killed In Hartford Fire

According to courant.com, there was a fire on Bristol Street that killed one man on Friday. The state medical examiner's office identified the man as Anthony Varjabedian, who was in his mid- 50's.The fire started in the basement of 5 Bristol Street and then expanded into the upstairs part of the house. The man was found not moving on his kitchen floor by firefighters, who came to the house after 4 am. The emergency crew pulled Varjabedian from the house and performed CPR on him. He was then taken to Hartford Hospital, where he died, according to Capt. Ronald Chance. The fire was under control in 20 minutes and caused a considerable amount of damage to the small Cape Cod-style home. The first-floor bedroom caved into the basement. The fire was apparently accidental and appeared to be electrical, but it is still unclear of what caused the flames to ignite, according to Chance. This death was the first fire-related loss in the city since November 2007.
