A couple from northeast Ohio rafted down a flood-swollen river without life preservers. To make it worse, when they reached land and were confronted by the authorities who had been searching for them for hours, the couple proceeded to lie about being in the water.
A judge sentenced the couple to stand in a tiny pool while wearing life jackets and handing out water safety brochures during a festival in Painesville, which is thirty miles away from Cleveland.
The couple pleaded guilty and accepted the pool and community service option rather than 60 days in jail.
