Nationally Ranked RHAM Swimmer Has Big Plans For Future

Nationally ranked swimmier, Alicia Mathieu, has been competitively swimming ever since the age of 9. Her interest in swimming began through her love of being in the water and her thirst for competition. Alicia started taking swimming lessons and from there, was focused on the sport. The bigger news is that Alicia has chosen to attend the University of Florida as a Division 1 scholarship athlete. She explains that this was her first choice for college and she is very excited. Other schools she took interest in included Auburn and University of Cal-Berkeley. Her final decision was Florida because she wanted a place where she could be active, obtain a scholarship and strive for excellence. Alicia has competed in many meets and says that her parents and friends support her in any way possible. She has competed in the Connecticut Summer of the Year finals and the Junior National in Maiu, Hawaii. Alicia is ranked as 40th in the country and is constantly challenging herself to improve. "It gives me something to strive for and I love the results I get." she says. Mathieu is not an average athlete, she has worked hard and dedicated her time and focus to swimming. She is looking forward to more competition and will continue to challenge herself to be on top.
