British Aid Worker Killed by U.S. Grenade

According to CNN:

British aid worker Linda Norgrove, age 36, was killed by an explosion on October 8. Norgrove worked for DAI, an agency dedicated to helping developing nations. She died during a failed rescue attempt after being kidnapped in a remote region of Afghanistan in late September. At first, reports indicated that a terrorist suicide vest had detonated, killing her, but U.S. officials ordered a full investigation to ensure what happened. British Foreign Secretary William Hague confirmed on Thursday that the real cause of death was by a grenade thrown by U.S. troops. The soldiers failed to admit that they had thrown a grenade and have been disciplined for the failure under military law. Over 1000 American and Afghan troops were dedicated to the rescue of Norgrove. Hague called her death "a terrible tragedy."
